Have a chibi human Derek Hale to go with chibi werewolf Derek Hale.

Pattern by YijiCrafts on Etsy (aka YijiTumbles on Tumblr) based on her own adorable fan art. I would link to the pattern, but her Etsy shop is on hiatus and I can’t get to it.

I've had this done except for the eyes since February. What happened was that for some reason one of the colors for his eyes instantly turned the same color as his skin as soon as I added the last stitch. It looked kind of weird, so I proceeded to rip out and redo his eyes. And then again. And then again in different colors so many times I’m surprised I didn’t wear a hole in my aida.

This is what I finally settled on. I’m not 100% in love with it, but I’ve tried so many colors that I think this is as good as it’s going to get. In any event, I’m ready to work on something else now.

Pattern by VickieDesigns on Etsy. I would normally link to the pattern, but her shop is on hiatus.

I swapped out the original red (DMC 349) for DMC 321 because I like my reds a little bolder.

Okay I found those bookmarks so here's the image heavy post I promised last time.

The office-inspired piece for the data scientists reminded me that I did one too.

We had a consultant visit last November, and over the course of two days he said "Less is more" about twelve times. In context it was good advice, and I said we should have it tattooed on various people. My boss said I should embroider it so we could hang it on the wall and tell people to refer to it. So one night I went home and dug out some scrap linen, and now my boss's office door says Less Is More. I debated whether to put it in a really ornate frame, just to be silly.

There was some chit-chat in the office last week about needing a warning sign "Do Not Feed the Data Scientists."

I'm not entirely sure why not to feed them; but I'm there to help, so I made this out of the internet and stuff I had on hand:

I kind of designed myself into a corner. It's surprising how few threatening silhouettes are recognizable at this resolution! So I hope they don't mind being space invaders.

P.S. I hope I did this right. This is the first time I've posted a picture on DW.

I'm so glad to see this comm is still up and about!

I was originally going to have this update be quite a bit more image-heavy because I was going to post the last six bookmarks from the 12 month bookmark kit all at once, but I lost October, November, December, June, and May. Or, to paraphrase my mother, I put them in a place where they would be safe and not get damaged and now I don't remember where that is. Probably somewhere weird.

But I still have a few pictures )

I did in fact end up going back and unpicking that one bookmark.

I actually just moved houses, away from hot-as-the-sun Texas and into... apparently very rainy Wisconsin. It was a heck of a move, but to stave off tension I was doing a few small projects in between packing.

I wasn't actually going to post again so soon, but I've managed to finish so many things since my last post!

Nothing quite like someone else posting an update to the comm to remind you just how long its been since you yourself posted an update!

Finished Objects )

It's been a while since I posted any finished objects, largely because I've been doing a lot of knitting these past few months and what cross-stitching I've been doing has mostly been wee kits that I keep for travelling and none of them have actually got finished. But I have been working on something a bit bigger lately and I discovered I did have another couple of finished objects that I'd just never posted about.

I totally forgot to post this here when I was finally done orz I actually finished this project a year ago.

I made a cross stitch pattern out of an image of Jason Todd (because I am a huge geek) and I was tired of working on a more "traditional" project for my mom.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the finished product and the original image I used.

Oh, sweet! I'm so happy I found a comm on DW... is this in any way related to the one on LJ? Either way, I guess I'll put my update post here, too.

Basically I didn't post my updates anywhere for a while so I sort of have a bunch of them piled up. Here we go...

I did actually finish my duck in plenty of time for the silly season (a whole week, a record for me!) but then I forgot to make a post to show it off! Despite running out of two shades of blue and having to track down more - of course I found a skein of the pale blue when I was looking for something else entirely last week, but nevermind!

A while back my gran gave me a pile of cross-stich kits that she'd accumulated (she likes the idea of cross-stitching but neither her eye sight or her patience are up to it) and I've been working my way through them. Mostly giving them back to her as presents because...well they're usually her taste not mine. (I'd feel guilty if I didn't know she picked them up from charity shops) This is her birthday card this year!

Rose Card

Otherwise, I've really missed having a big project to make regular posts about, so I decided to make my mum a companion piece to her chickens from last year. It was actually the duck that she originally wanted but talked me out of making her because it was 'too big' (for me to make, not for her wall) which she now appreciates was a silly reason. Anyway, its proving just as enjoyable to stitch with its big shaping curves and colour blocks that make it look like the thing its supposed to be from early on that keeps me motivated. Hopefully between that and the weekly posts thing I'll get it done for silly season!

So...I got my project finished. Even finished in time to give as a winter festival gift to its intended recepient. I even remembered to take a photo of it! And then flickr broke itself for a bit leaving me unable to post/share photos. It's slightly less broken now. So I can finally share my completed project. Yay?!

So much for posting regular updates to keep me motivated, I keep forgetting to take photos. I really thought I had more photos from the intervening period that I just hadn't taken off my camera but nope, I haven't, so its a bit of a jump from my last post to this one...

progress has been made, honest! )

Well, I say finish in that it could use a soak and a frame, but all stitching is at least done.

Been working on this off and on for a couple of months, enjoyed it a lot.
For the curious, this was a Royal Paris kit, anchor thread, 14 count aida.

So I've been working away on my coasters over the last year round other bigger projects, so I thought I'd do a wee update on them. I lost my camera's cable for about 3 months so I don't have photos of the projects that I made as presents in between and I haven't done an update other big project in ages. Need to get on that...
