Oh, yay, there IS a cross-stitch group here on Dreamwidth! *waves* Hi, I'm nonnie, and after dropping the hobby entirely back in the mid-90s, I fell hard back into cross-stitch during the pandemic. It's still my main hobby, though I've always got a few irons in the fire. I'm active in various x-stitch groups on facebook and Instagram, and in my local community (we are fortunate to have a fabulous local shop), but I'm trying to find alternatives to the Meta-verse. So, I'm back here at Dreamwidth (my account dates from 2009) and hoping to find community here.
For fun, here are a few of the projects I'm most proud of finishing this past year.
Christmas Eve, by Cottage Garden Samplings.
Stitched with called for floss on Atypical opalescent 32 ct from Mystic Fabrics.
(I did sub out some colors for the trees, since they didn't show up too well on the fabric I chose)

A couple of smalls from the Blue Flowers' Spooky Autumn Smalls.
Both stitched mostly with called for floss on 32 ct Honeydew Spritz from Atomic Ranch Fabrics.
(For the cats, I just grabbed whatever overdyed flosses I had in my stash, and I changed the last one's socks up.)

Li'l Hex Tome and Li'l Hex Cup, by Dees20Stitches
Stitched with called for floss on 32ct Wisteria by Mystic Fabrics.

I have a few more, but in the interest of not spamming the community in my first post, I'll leave off. I do have a post in my journal for all of them; it helps my ADHD brain to see what I've actually done in the past year. My journal is friendslocked for general purposes, but I am pretty open about friending folks, so drop me a note if you like.
I am looking forward to seeing what folks are working on as well as finishes!

Date: 2025-01-13 11:16 pm (UTC)You... finish things? I should try that some time...
Edited to add: I love those finishes! The shaped ghost one is super dope.

Date: 2025-01-14 05:26 am (UTC)LOL! It's the way my anxiety and ADHD manifest; if I don't finish, it makes my brain itch. Though, I will say, I have about forty years of practice on crafts--and there are many, MANY projects that wound up thrown viciously into a corner and never, ever resurrected behind me.
And thank you! That was my first experiment with a jigsaw. I drew the ghost shapes, and then managed to cut them out without damaging myself. *g*

Date: 2025-01-14 05:28 am (UTC)And thank you! I always stitch 2 over two, so it's basically the same as 16-count aida. I'm not doing one-over-one, nope! :)

Date: 2025-01-14 04:21 am (UTC)Lots of cute things there! And welcome.
In terms of activity, this is quite quiet. If you haven't investigated it already, there is a slightly more active community on Pillowfort.

Date: 2025-01-14 02:40 pm (UTC)https://www.pillowfort.social - it's a different kind of blogging social media, with more emphasis on images. The sections I hang out in aren't very active, even though they have hundreds of 'members' in the groups. I'm not sure if this link will work for you not logged in, but the fibre-art has nearly a thousand members, but only a handful of regular posters. I have intentions of posting, I just have to get around to it!
