Allotment progress

Since word_geek mentioned the comm being quiet yesterday, I thought why not give it another little poke with a progress picture. Especially since it's just been Easter and Husband and I got a LOT of crafty activities done over the holiday.




I feel like I'm making quite fast progress on this one. It has a fairly large amount of the dreaded fractional stitch, but working on even-weave makes it a bit less of a mouthful. Just really really need to keep my wits about me and not mess it up with those. There is one place already where I've managed to make the fractional stitch towards the opposite corner that it was supposed to be, but studying the chart I don't think it'll matter too much. I think you'd have to search pretty hard to find it, especially once the backstitch goes on.

One thing I really like about this one so far is the effect of the background greenery at the top being stitched in only one strand. Now that I've got some foreground greenery in the same two colours, but two strands, in there I can really see the difference. It really does give it a slight 3d-ish effect. It's very visible in RL, but not so much in the photo. You might be able to see it a bit if you look at the area under the sunflower. Those are the same two shades of green, but in two strands.

Oh good. I can see it in the picture but I thought it might be because I know it's there. It's much better in real life. :) I have to admit, though, when I first started with one strand, I felt a bit sceptical about it.
