Mermaid of the Pearls is progressing, if very slowly. I am up to the point where I can start to see progress, and that she is actually looking more like she should.

I have spent a portion of tonight colour coding my working copies. White is now mostly coloured in on the top half of the pattern. It does make the pattern easier to read, I think.

Most of her skin is done. Now it is filling in the sparklies around it. I pulled out my thread heaven, which I think will help immensely!

Here she is with a flash:

Very nice progress. It's always satisfying when we start to see the progress.

Regarding sparklies -- I assume you're talking about metallics? Those are oh so much fun to use! /sarcasm. Threadhaven does help but not perfectly, at least in my experience. I use it a lot with Dawn Fairy since a lot of the dress is done with metallics.

Hmm... I forget what I use for it. I bought the kit and pattern direct from Passione Ricamo years and years ago - I think 5, in fact. So I'm not even using DMC or Anchor thread either. It's some Italian brand.

It still looks gorgeous. *g*

That sounds like a good deal. I'm not allowed to buy anything more until I finish at least some of the projects I've got on the burner. Seriously. I have two full understorage boxes full of cross stitch stuff. I need to make a dent in that before I get anything new.

She looks lovely!

I used some metallic thread in my first counted project (I'd done a needlepoint before, but that's a lot easier). I tried separating the threads...and then they kept separating...and separating...my poor wife had to come save me from thread-related insanity at some point. D: Good luck with yours.
