Very pretty. Just curious, but do you always do the faces so early in the project? I ask only because they tend to be among the last bit that I stitch (beyond the outlining and speciality stitches, obviously).
I find it depends on the project. This one was taking so long to make her look like anything, I decided that face and hair *needed* to be done.. just so she looks like something.
I have other projects where the face will be done last (such as Titania).
I stitch a little oddly though, as I will backstitch and bead as I complete a section. For example, I stitched Joan Elliott's Water Goddess, and I completed each page before I moved on. The reason for this is I am really good at procrastinating about beading and backstitching if there is a heap to do... so if I do bit by bit, it gets done, and I end up with a completed project :D
It is why Stargazer took me so long... I think I procrastinated about beading so much she took me six months to bead!!! But she turned out well in the end I think:
I started her years ago, went back to school and just picked her up again a few months ago. I've got most of the dress done. Currently working on the lower right part... had to pull a lot of the stitches out because I miscounted at some point. After I finish the birth announcement, I'm going back to it. I hope to finish it by Dec but who knows. I'm a bit of a slow stitcher at times.
Thanks for the compliment on the previous icon. Made that a few years ago.
That icon now made me laugh! I love that you have Crichton as pretty, and Aeryn as kickass!
I am not the fastest stitcher simply because I am a flibbertygibbett and keep swapping between projects. That I get anything finished sometimes amazes me... especially when I go through my stitching blog and realise I haven't worked on certain projects in almost a year, and yet I have pulled them out again to work on. I started this on February last year... LOL!
Wish I could take credit for that one, but it was made by someone else. It is one of my favorites.
I've been trying to focus on finishing projects I've started before I start a new one. I've been working on the Halloween Fairy on my commute home, because it is relatively small compared to the other projects. Still, sometimes difficult to stitch linen while on a moving subway, so it can be slow going at times.
Fair enough. I get that about moving vehicles. I used to stitch on the train when I could. Now I have to stitch at work or home.
I stitch Lily at work. She is relatively small. I was trying to explain patterns to someone at work the other day... I think he thought I was odd/funny!
A lot of people just don't understand stitching. My boyfr. thinks of it as my cute quirk; of course he paints miniatures, so I figure we're both even in that. :)
I had one guy at work come up to me, and talk to me about stitching, obviously knowing something about it. When I asked, he looked really ashamed and admitted to finishing his aunt's stitching (she was sick and he stayed with her and was bored). Apparently he stitched "The Last Supper", and a few others... I thought it was pretty cool. Not often do you find guys that stitch :D
