I've just finished stitching a small piece onto a sweater and I'm in two minds as to whether or not I should put interfacing on the back of it, inside the sweater. It would protect the back of the stitching, I'm just concerned about what would happen to the interfacing the next time it goes in the wash. Anyone here stitched onto clothes before and have some suggestions?

Hello other stitchers!

I'm Schala, a young cross-stitcher who thinks a bit outside of the box. As you can see by this post I made, I like to combine my love of cross-stitching with my love of video games by making my own patterns based on video game sprites.

My question concerns using colored fabric. I've tried working with black but I was frustrated by how much of the color showed through my stitches. Do any of you have advice about how to avoid this?

I tagged this with stitches, but feel free to retag it, mods.

My father recently found a cross stitch wall hanging that was done by my grandmother and stashed away in a drawer for years. Not properly stored. Anyhow, it has some brown age spots on the fabric. I wondered if there is any way to get them out without damaging the fabric or the stitching? Note, I haven't even washed it yet, wanted to find out how to handle it first.

Since Grannie died in 1986, this was probably done in the 70s or early 80s, possibly earlier but I doubt it. So is over 20 years old, at least.

Suggestions?
