S.E.X. in Alexandria

So...[personal profile] ancientsavvy and I met up earlier this week for lunch and cross stitch shopping; we went to a great little shop in Alexandria, VA -- In Stitches. I also recently ordered some stuff from Herrschners and Vicki Clayton (Hand-Dyed Fibers)....

Part of my Herrschners order: two StitchWorld X-Stitch patterns -- Flora (patterned off a William Morris tapestry) and the Wisdom & Harmony Sampler.

More from the Herrschners order: Celtic Crane pillowcases, and DMC 924 & 926.

And yet more Herrschners: another pillowcase set (Yes, I know. It's an addiction - I'm seeking help) -- Dragonfly Dreams by Bucilla, and the thread kit.

Growth Rings floss toss: Vicki Clayton silks in Burnished Cranberry (x2) and Raisin Wine (x6), and 32 ct Jobelan in Waterlily.

From In Stitches: two Lizzie Kate leaflets (Housework Never Killed Anyone and Good Things) and a fat quarter of 28 ct Laguna in Fairy Dust. [personal profile] ancientsavvy and I are going to do "Housework" as a mini stitch-a-long, after the semester ends! w00t!

More from In Stitches: Blackbird Designs' "Peacock Pinkeep" floss toss -- Thread Gatherer Silk 'N Colors in Peacock and Toasted Marshmallow and a 1/4 yard of 28 ct Linen in Star Sapphire (no, I'm not doing it in the colors they used for the model.)</td>

The contents of my FABULOUS GRAB BAG: Bee Proud by Mosey 'n Me, Quilt Border by The Workbasket, Pithies 3 by The Workbasket, Christmas Wishes by Just Nan, My Valentine by Blackbird Designs, All My Love by Amy Bruecken Designs and USA Squared by Lizzie Kate.

When I ordered the silk for Growth Circles, I bought a couple of grab bags -- some of the skeins aren't labeled, some are one of kind, some were dyeing experiments -- whatever the case may be, they sure are pretty. And soft. OMG, you would not believe how soft they are!

Wow! I think you are set for a good long while! ;-) Except of course there will always be something new to buy! Hee hee

The Growth Rings toss looks really pretty. I still have to figure which direction I want to go with mine. I was thinking a green and gold combination, maybe? Something out of the burgundy/crimson family.

In Stitches is a fabulous store. I used to go there after the Woodlawn needlework show to shop.

I need to take pictures of my latest order from Vikki Clayton -- minis, linen and a floss grab bag and some mystery spools.

Ooooh, silk thread! I love stitching with it - the colours are so lovely. You got quite a nice little 'grab bag' there! I haven't heard of that company - I'm going to check them out.
