perforated paper tips?

Hi all -
I am gearing up to try out some ornaments using perforated paper, but have never used the stuff before. I've always used aida cloth or other even weave fabrics. Are there any tips from those who've used perf paper before? Things to watch out for? Is this going to tear on me the minute I set it down inside my sewing basket?

It's tougher than it looks! I haven't used it for ages, but I kept it in a plastic pocket to avoid creasing. Be careful with your stitch tension because the thread can pull at the edge of the hole and enlarge the hole, making your stitching uneven.
