Stitch parking level 2: achievement unlocked. I can't tell you how many times I went to park a thread and found another thread already parked there. I think I properly fixed everything I caught, but goodness only knows if this looks anything like it was supposed to.

I can’t decide if I’m ready to level up to the pattern I’m dying to make, or if I should do one more slightly harder pattern first before working my way up to that. My end goal is a massive HAED pattern with 234 colors.

The second picture is a distance shot because this pattern was done in the pointillist style, so the farther away you stand, the more detailed it looks.

I hope you grid on these complicated patterns, especially the big one with 234 colors. It is monotonous to install but makes all the difference in the world once you start stitching.

Your counting is far less likely to be off and you won't be overwhelmed by THE GIANT PATTERN but can instead just focus on the more manageable 10x10 section or similar smaller section.

Although I'm new to stitch parking (this was my second attempt), I've been cross stitching for 30 years. I've never gridded.

I've gridded for a celtic design, which was TOTALLY worth it. I've never tried stitch parking, how does that work?

There are a lot of stitch parking tutorials online and everybody seems to do it slightly differently, but this video is the method that worked best for me. Basically you just go row by row, although some people stitch every color in a 10x10 block one at a time.

I have always wondered WHY people do stitch parking. What's the benefit?

For most patterns there isn't any, but when you have a pattern that has a whole lot of color changes in a very small area (this pattern had a section where every stitch in a 10 stitch wide row was a different color), it means not having to constantly tie off and rethread needles. It also means you won't run out of places to secure your thread ends, which is what happened to me on a previous pattern and why I decided to try stitch parking. But like I said, I don't use it for everything. If a pattern has nicely sized blocks of color, there's no point.
