Also, speaking of French knots, if anyone needs help with them, I find this tutorial immensely helpful (since I always forget how to do them) https://sublimestitching.com/pages/how-to-french-knot

Useful - thank you! I always think I'm going to remember, and then don't.

That's such a great tutorial. I got linked to it a little while back off of Reddit's cross-stitch group and it's SO useful. Really made a huge difference and I willingly created projects where I was doing French knots all the time.

Another trick if you're doing a lot of them is to pick up a milliner's needle. The eye doesn't expand out as much as a traditional embroidery needle so you can keep the tension on the thread as you slide the needle down without having to fuss with getting the eye through. They're also really great if you're doing a lot of bullion stitch for the same reason.

Thank you, bookmarked!

I learned about 15 years ago from a VERY similar set of drawings in (UK) Cross Stitcher magazine. I was so grateful that I subscribed. Needless to say they've now removed that particular tutorial from their pages.

I usually just do a colonial knot. I find it much easier to execute and it looks the same when you are done.
